Generations in the workplace do not exist, only in families.
With two generations in front of the group (mother & daughter or father & daughter), The Bridgers show how generational labels actually take us out of connection and actually increase polarization. No generation gap, but we invite curiosity, inclusion and true collaboration.

The Overbruggers offer a refreshing and well-reasoned counterpoint to the conversation about generations in the workplace. While many organizations continue to think in terms of age labels and so-called generational differences, we demonstrate that generations are not a fact, but a lens. And that lens increasingly stands in the way of inclusion, collaboration, and innovation.

Our strength lies in both form and content. With two generations leading the group (mother & daughter or father & daughter), we bring to light what often happens unconsciously: assumptions, prejudices, and expectations based on age. We certainly don’t pull any punches, but we’ll always use the finest approach. Not to accuse, but to shake people awake. Because the problem isn’t a generation gap; the problem arises when judgment trumps curiosity.

Sam started this company as the daughter of two trainers, having grown up in an environment where ideas were judged not by age, but by substance. In the business world, she experienced the contrast: organizations claim to be looking for “young, fresh perspectives,” yet visibly struggle to truly harness that potential. Why does connection and inclusion work at home around the kitchen table, yet do we lose that sense of connection the moment we close the organization’s front door behind us?

Scientific research confirms this tension. Large meta-studies (including Costanza, Ravid & Romero, 2024) show that generations hardly differ in what they value in work: autonomy, recognition, development, a sense of purpose, and work-life balance. Yet both young and older employees experience systemic age discrimination (CBS, NIDI, Inclusion Benchmark 2024). The result: self-fulfilling prophecies, the Golem effect, reduced psychological safety, and ultimately turnover and diminished performance.

With the Overbruggers Model and our curiosity meter, we make this concrete and practical. We show how leaders, teams, and organizations can shift from judgment to curiosity, collaboration, and inclusion.

The Overbruggers do not offer training on “generations,” but rather an invitation to inclusion, psychological safety, and future-proof collaboration. Because if you look only at age, you miss the person.
