Millions of kids dream of it, only a few make it: playing in the Eredivisie, or even beyond. Tom Beugelsdijk did it. The natural born Hagenaar made it through the youth of ADO Den Haag to cult hero in the Zuiderpark and to professional footballer in Germany. But his path was not an easy one. Beugelsdijk gives, together with Richard de Mos, an inspiring lecture about the hard life behind the dream.
Both gentlemen can relate: How do you stay afloat in a world full of expectations, temptations and pressure? Beugelsdijk speaks candidly about his own struggle, but also about his resilience, level-headedness and love for the city of The Hague.
As a crowd pleaser at ADO, he was embraced for his honesty, commitment and Hague accent. But now he is making the switch to an entirely different playing field: The Hague municipal politics. In March 2026, Beugelsdijk is at spot 15 on the Hart voor Den Haag candidate list, where he wants to serve as spokesman for sports.
The Hague politician Richard de Mos is not only an interlocutor, but will himself also tell his experiences of reaching the top, dealing with
setbacks and how does he maintain his undiminished fighting spirit, even when everyone (including the Public Prosecutor's Office) is against you and the media are feeding into the frame to their hearts' content?
A very entertaining lecture in interview-setting, with serious topics, of course full of Hague humor.
