Marc Lammers was the national coach of the Dutch women's hockey team. He was in charge of the team that won the silver medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. After the Beijing Olympics, Lammers quit as national coach. As a player, he played five international games for the Dutch men's hockey team. Lammers played 16 years in the Dutch premier league, with the clubs Oranje Zwart and Hockeyclub 's-Hertogenbosch.

After several years as coach of various youth teams, Lammers became Tom van 't Hek's assistant with the Dutch women's hockey team in the late 1990s. A few months before the 1998 Women's Field Hockey World Cup played in Utrecht, Lammers was named coach of the Spanish national women's hockey team, with whom he finished fourth at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Two months later, he became the head coach of the Dutch women's hockey team.

In 2012, Marc became national coach of the Belgian men's hockey team, with whom he reached second place at the 2013 European field hockey championship and fifth place at the World Cup. In July 2014, Lammers announced his retirement as national coach of the Belgian field hockey men for personal reasons, but also announced his farewell as field hockey coach
