About Bas:
Bas Nijhuis
was born in Enschede on January 12, 1977. Already at an early age it appears that he has talent as a referee. From the age of fifteen he whistles official matches, the talent dripping from him. At the age of 28 he whistled his first 'Professional Football' match and after that his career went very fast. On October 18, 2011, Bas Nijhuis made his debut in the Champions League with the Olympiakos - Borussia Dortmund match.
In the Dutch league, Bas Nijhuis is assigned more and more top matches by the KNVB. In July 2015, he receives promotion to the Elite Group of UEFA where he is the only Dutchman together with Björn Kuipers. In addition to refereeing, Bas Nijhuis is also an entrepreneur. After first managing a butcher shop, Bas has now owned two bakeries since 2013.
