About Ilja:
Ilja Gort was already playing music at the age of six. Later he composed and arranged t diverse music and advertising tunes, including well-known tunes from Duo Penotti, Nationale-Nederlanden and Nescafé. In 1994, in France, in Saint-Romain-la-Virvée, Gort bought the Château de la Garde, appellation Bordeaux Superieur, with 15 hectares of vineyards. He named his wine La Tulipe. The name La Tulipe is not only a reference to Holland but is also the name of a certain French way of toasting.

For Omroep Max, Gort made several programs, including Wijn aan Gort, about French wines. At Avrotros he got his own program "Gort over de Grens" in which he makes reports on countries other than France such as Italy and Spain. In 2018, that was complemented by the program 'Gort's Wine Quarter,' in which he explains about wine and answers viewers' questions.

In addition to his work as a winemaker and TV presenter, Gort is also a writer. He has written several wine books and four successful novels, of which 'De Vrouwenslagerij' will soon be filmed. Ilja Gort lives alternately in the Netherlands and in France.
