Jack de Gier made his debut as a professional footballer with BVV Den Bosch and ended his active career with FC Twente. In total he played 413 matches at professional level and scored 139 goals. A special moment in his career was his debut for FC Twente: after his transfer from Dunfermline Athletic he scored within one minute for his new club. In the 1990/1991 season at Den Bosch he scored 23 goals, which earned him the nickname "El Buitre" (the vulture).
