Henrike van Engelenburg is a sand artist, writer, speaker, and linguist and cultural expert—with a keen eye for organizational dynamics and the perspective of someone living and working alongside autism. She is also a former theater producer.

What does it mean to grow up as the child of an autistic parent or to work with someone who may have autism? How does this affect identity, parenting, team performance, and relationships as an adult?
In this talk, I’ll take you into the world of the “Co-Rider”—the loved one of someone with (possible) autism. What are the invisible dynamics within the family and the workplace?
Through personal stories, videos, reflection, sand drawing, and games, I offer practical tips and insights, help people who may be “Co-Drivers” to recognize and acknowledge their role, and provide tools to safeguard their emotional autonomy (personal leadership).

For professionals—such as caregivers, therapists, students, and others involved—I make the invisible burden of Co-Drivers visible through the Co-Driver Model. I offer insights into family dynamics and practical tools to support family members in maintaining their identity and boundaries while providing care and guidance to people with autism.
