He led clubs such as ADO Den Haag, VVV-Venlo and Sparta Rotterdam to impressive results and was awarded the Rinus Michels Award for Best Trainer of the Year. His leadership style hard on substance, soft on relationship makes him beloved by players and colleagues. Besides his professional successes, he also has a special family story: the collaboration with his son Sem Steijn, now captain at Feyenoord, symbolizes their shared passion for sport, discipline and growth.
