The child with ADHD, ASD, a language deficiency, a low SES, the child who is abused at home, the child with (school) trauma, gifted or struggling to learn ... if they are all in one class with one teacher, it seems an impossible task. After all, the behavior observable in the classroom is the tip of the iceberg and the elementary school teacher is not a behavior specialist. Yet even more is expected of the
teaching profession than what we already fail to deliver.
Sofie van de Waart, education specialist with 15 years of experience in schools, partnerships and at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, will take you through the challenging task of inclusive education in her keynote.
The pitfalls and strengths of neurodiverse students, appropriate advice instead of promising or overadvice, the positive side of "normalizing" instead of labeling and focus on good guidance for each child.
No golden mountains, but concrete tools to do a little bit better tomorrow, in the classroom, in the boardroom, in the office of the board or at the partnership.

Sofie gave a lecture for the CNV leadership lab on the do's and dont's of a school leader. She knows better than anyone else what a teacher wants from a school leader because of her years of practical experience. In addition, she is theoretically well versed.
