At sixteen, Joyce received a diagnosis that dramatically changed her future prospects: "you become deaf and blind." Slowly she loses her two senses that allow her to communicate and function independently. She lives in a continuous process of change with the choice: how do I deal with this? Despite everything, Joyce sees the world positively, because as she says herself, "I don't need to be able to see to have a vision AND I don't need to be able to hear to be heard."

Change comes our way for all of us and makes enormous demands on our personal agility.

Besides being an inspirational speaker, Joyce is also a trainer and coach at the Speakers Club where she guides speakers and business leaders to their next level in speaking.
She is also an ambassador for the Ushersyndrome Foundation and author of "Not Hearing Not Seeing Not Shutting Up," among others. A beautiful autobiographical story about life's rush, the quest to deal with the continuous process of change and the growing conviction that she has something to tell the world. Because just because she will soon be unable to hear or see doesn't mean she will be silent either.

In her book, Joyce has also included several song lyrics that mean a lot to her and connect beautifully to her story. If desired, Joyce's reading can be supplemented by a singer who sings excerpts from these songs to the musical accompaniment of a guitarist. Impact, experience and goosebumps guaranteed!
