Piotr Torunski is gaining attention as a talented bass clarinet/clarinetist. With numerous performances on internationally recognized stages, music awards and a refreshingly original sound, he continues to expand his reputation as a talented and versatile musician.
Piotr Torunski graduated from the Music Conservatory in Katowice (Poland) Master Classical Studies (2003-2008). During his studies he collaborated with the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice conducted by Krzysztof Penderecki and Sinfonietta Cracovia conducted by John Axelrod (USA).
In 2008-2009, he collaborated internationally with Jim Black, Ravie Coltrane and Ralph Alessie. The documentary "Small spaces" about jazz won the Gold Remi Award at the 42nd International Festival "Worldfest" in Houston (USA) in the "The Arts/Cultural" category. In 2011 he was very successful with the highest mark in the Master Class Conservatory in Maastricht (Netherlands) with a score of 10/10 on bass clarinet in the jazz department under the direction of Mr. Claudius Valk. His first solo album "The Bass Invasion"
premiered in New York at Break Thru Radio and the later album "Moods" (Torunski Brothers) became an instant hit in 2014. In 2012, he received the prestigious Hustinx Prize (Netherlands). In 2018, he won the Prix Du Meilleur Instrumentiste at the Avignon Jazz Festival Contest - Best Instrumentalist Prize.
