Dolf Jansen studied Dutch law and criminology at the Free University from 1981 to 1988. He formed the cabaret duo Lebbis and Jansen with Hans Sibbel. After winning the Leids Cabaret Festival in 1989, they made successful cabaret programs together until 2006, including New Year's Eve conferences. In 1996 he was also part of the occasional pop group 'Wij', which released the single 'De oorlog meegemaakt' in 1996. Ilse DeLange was also part of it.
Jansen is also known as a presenter on television and radio. On television he presented Loods 6 (1991), Kunstbende (1992), Jansen slaat door (TROS) (1993) and Jansen op jacht (2007). After 2000 he presented, among others, Later wordt het leuk and - together with Claudia
de Breij - the program Vara Laat (later called Vara Live). He was also (co)presenter during several editions of Pinkpop. On the radio he presented his own radio show (Leuk Is Anders) on 3FM until October 3, 2008. On Radio 6 he presented the program Exit Thunder Road on Sunday nights. Since 2016, he has presented it on Saturday nights on Radio 2. He also presents the radio program Spijkers met koppen with Willemijn Veenhoven.
During the first Dutch Correspondents' Dinner, a gala dinner of members of the parliamentary press with the prime minister, on Feb. 10, 2016, in the Beurs van Berlage, Jansen made jokes about politics and politicians in a speech after Prime Minister Mark Rutte took journalists, colleagues and himself to task. In doing so, Jansen called Rutte his "supporting cast.
Dolf Jansen is an ambassador for Oxfam Novib. In his spare time he is a creditable runner with a personal record of 2:28.22 on the marathon, run in 1994 in Helmond.
