The best-known Crooner* of the Netherlands used to work in a shipyard near Rotterdam. Until he broke through in 1975 with his participation in 'Voor De Vuist Weg', a television programme by Willem Duys. Here he was announced as the singing crane driver

The following year Towers released two singles, 'It's Raining In My Heart' and the world famous 'You Never Walk Alone'. The latter was a cover of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II for the American musical 'Carousel'. The song is well received by soccer clubs as it has grown into Feyenoord's club song in the Netherlands. At English club Liverpool FC the words "You'll Never Walk Alone" are even included in the club logo. There the version of the band 'Gerry & The Pacemakers became a big hit.

In 1980 Lee gave his first major concert in 'De Doelen' in Rotterdam. A year later he even sold out the Amsterdam Carré

Lee was the first non-American to win a Graceland Award in 1995 for the album 'Lee Tower Sings Elvis'. Herewith he may call himself "One Of The King's Men"

Towers has been connected with the city of Rotterdam from the start, his songs are sung by Feyenoord, he sings at the Rotterdam Marathon and in 2019 even two towers are named after him; De Lee Towers

That Lee is loved throughout the Netherlands and not only in Rotterdam is shown by the fact that he was a guest artist for the first time in 2007 at 'Toppers In Concert' in the Amsterdam ArenA. This was such a success that he returned twice at this annual mega party

In 2013 Lee was immortalized on the big screen, the documentary 'Lee Towers: The Voice Of Rotterdam' premiered. In this documentary Lee was followed by a camera crew giving fans a glimpse into his life.

In 2017 Towers received the Edison Oeuvre Prize for his contribution to the Dutch music world
In 2018 Lee participated in 'The Best Singers of the Netherlands', the programme in which well-known artists sing each other's (favourite) songs. Lee was highly regarded during this programme and eventually had to share first place with Trijntje Oosterhuis

Lee Towers has worked with many artists in his career, he has done theatre tours with Anita Meyer, performed with Frans Bauer, Karin Bloemen and many more. He also still performs at company parties and private events
