What is a story? Why do we tell stories to each other? How are stories best constructed and spread in these times? And what is unique about your own story?
Storytelling is a trend that organizations are now jumping on en masse. But telling a story well is and always has been as difficult as ever, especially with all the modern technology. It requires both knowledge of media and an old-fashioned dose of magic. Hence writer, speaker, musician and producer (MsC) Rogier van Kralingen takes us through the whole story of storytelling. He purposefully bypasses hypes and clichés and tells us how the best stories - from past to present and into the future - are told.
As a participant in
the lecture, you will be taught the how, what and why of storytelling like few can: your story will be made up live based on input from the audience. Because not only does Rogier know the iron laws of storytelling from literature, music, brand, theater, film and television, he couples scientific knowledge with extensive experience with the hundreds of different entertainment and organizational stories he has now created and told.
Rogier shows us in a contrary, relativizing and often very humorous way how storytelling works in this day and age.

Bio Rogier van Kralingen
Writer, speaker and musician Drs. Rogier van Kralingen (MsC / MsA) is a storytelling specialist and founder of boutique production house The Whole Story. He graduated in war propaganda and copyright besides being nominated several times and winner of the PIM Literature Prize with books on innovation, crowdsourcing, marketing, emotions, society, technology and media. His most recent book, The Whole Story, is a guide to all the principles of storytelling. He has created several hundred stories in the private, public, cultural, charitable and business worlds, with outputs including video, theater, podcast, press releases, biographies, design, personal publicity, script, music, film, journalism and branded content. Rogier is a former guest columnist for BNR Radio, published in all major Dutch dailies, widely read marketing blogger, qualified scriptwriter and student of Hollywood script guru Robert McKee. His knowledge of human emotions brings him to stages with theater, music and visually appealing lectures, not infrequently laced with a good dose of self-mockery.
