The Almost Swinging Jazz Band consists of a permanent collective of about twenty musicians, each of whom is a full member of the band and has the same standards (dress code, knowledge of our repertoire, etc.). So you might see some new faces at our shows on a regular basis. The Almost Swinging Jazz Band performs with 4, 5 or 6 musicians, depending on the size of the room, the set-up (background music or not) and your budget

The musicians are from Ghent and a maximum of (more or less) 1 hour travelling time from Ghent is included in the price. Further or longer travel times are negotiable

They prefer to play in a quartet, singing in four voices. The most common line-up is trumpet (+ lead vocals) - banjo - double bass - snare drum. The style of this band is situated between traditional dixieland and early swing ("almost swinging"), so they bring something like dixieswing, which they combine with four-part barbershop singing! The repertoire consists of accessible and mainly upbeat feel-good jazz from the 20's-40's. The band usually plays background music during receptions, but can also provide some intermezzo's during a wedding ceremony.
