Diederik Ruisch (1979) studied trumpet and flugelhorn at the Utrecht Conservatory: classical and technical studies with Willem van der Vliet and specialisation in jazz and improvisation with Ack van Rooyen, Angelo Verploegen and Martijn Sohier. Already before and during his studies he took many initiatives to develop himself as broadly as possible: lessons with Eric Vloeimans and Roger Ingram, workshops with a.o. Henk Meutgeert, Johan Plomp, Chuck Findley and Gerardo Rosales. And a lot of trumpet playing, of course, in as many line-ups as possible. The result is a seasoned section player and lead trumpeter for the most diverse formations: classical, jazz, Latin, pop, soul and funk. An all-round trumpet player, among others with the Holland Big Band, Amber Roots, his own Diederik Ruisch Quintet and Boggy Ground.
