"I was furious. Steam was coming out of my ears. That's not how you treat people. I would like to be public property, but not be publicly abused. 'I'm going to call a cab now and I'm going to Hilversum now, to KRO,' I said to Marijke."
Hoping to calm Harry down, Marijke decided to drive her
husband to Hilversum. But Harry did not calm down. "It became Weesp, it became Naarden, it became Laren and I got angrier and angrier. Finally we arrived at Emmalaan and Marijke said as we got out, 'What are you up to?'"
Harry: "I saw that glass facade, I saw a loose stone and then there was really no one at all who could stop me. So I got right in front of it and bang! The first time the stone bounced back, only the second time the whole door party went down. I have to tell you honestly: I have never felt such relief in my whole life as I did then. It was done, it was out, and I didn't give a damn about the consequences. I was immediately happy again."
Upon returning home, the little tantrum-maker realized that, of course, there had been a night porter present and he had been startled. So he decided to give it a call. "Nice of you to call, Mr. Slinger, but I'm busy with the police because someone threw a brick through our glass front." To which Harry said, "That was me! My apologies."
