Hillsome South is a band from Hilversum that’s perfect for any occasion. “Country & Americana from the Heart of Holland” is the perfect description of this rock-solid band!
Hillsome South has a solid sound with strong lead vocals and smooth close harmony.
Their repertoire spans a wide range of Americana, West Coast, and country music and includes covers of artists such as Bonnie Raitt and Neil Young, as well as original songs. The band has released three albums to date: “Feels like Home,” “Be My Guest,” and “Coverstory.” The albums are available on platforms such as Spotify.
Who are the band members?
• Marieke Heerschop (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica) is the frontwoman of Hillsome South. When she sings, the audience naturally falls silent and listens.
• Jos van Workum (bass, vocals) is the driving force behind the band and is also very creative in coming up
with contemporary arrangements for the covers Hillsome South plays. He also sings along beautifully.
• Gerard Harder (guitar, mandolin, dobro, vocals) is a true Americana enthusiast and is completely in his element with Hillsome South’s repertoire. He regularly switches instruments during a gig and also handles many of the vocal parts.
• Rob Heerschop (drums) is a musical and creative jack-of-all-trades who moves between classical and popular music. He keeps Hillsome South steady in the right rhythm.
• Thomas de Jonker (pedal steel guitar) gives Hillsome South that all-important country vibe with his fantastic pedal steel playing!

We were already charmed by Hillsome South but after the performance they did at our wedding we are fans Very nice people, great sound. Thought along with us, rehearsed our opening number on request. Even our daughter and friend who wanted to do a number were given the space to do so by the band. Really super. Thank you very much for your musical interpretation of our big day.
