Hillsome South is a four-piece band from Hilversum that can fit in very well for any occasion. 'Americana from the Heart of Holland' is the right description of this rock solid band! Often Thomas de Jonker also joins Hillsome South on his pedal steel at performances, making the country sound even more present!
Hillsome South has a solid sound with strong lead vocals and flowing close harmony.
The repertoire covers a wide range of Americana, Westcoast and country music and includes covers of Bonnie Raitt and Neil Young, among others, as well as their own work. The band has since released two albums, "Feels Like Home" and "Be My Guest. Both albums can be found on Spotify and others.
Who are the band members?
- Marieke Heerschop (lead vocal, guitar, harmonica) is the front woman of Hillsome South. When she sings, the audience automatically falls silent and listens.
- Jos van Workum (bass, vocal) is the driving force of the band and very creative in coming up with contemporary arrangements for the covers Hillsome South plays.
He also sings a fine tune.
- Gerard Harder (guitar, mandolin, dobro, vocal) is a true lover of Americana and a fish out of water with Hillsome South's repertoire. He regularly switches instruments during gigs and also sings a lot of the vocals.
- Rob Heerschop (drums) is a musical and creative jack-of-all-trades who shuttles between classical and light music. He keeps Hillsome South steady in the right rhythm.

We were already charmed by Hillsome South but after the performance they did at our wedding we are fans Very nice people, great sound. Thought along with us, rehearsed our opening number on request. Even our daughter and friend who wanted to do a number were given the space to do so by the band. Really super. Thank you very much for your musical interpretation of our big day. Super nice music, nice voices! We enjoyed this band at our garden party; they just played through during a huge downpour that unfortunately happened after a bright day! Highly recommended!

The band has an outdoor party with over 30 people provided with music. It is a bunch of enthusiastic musicians; the music was excellent. In addition, they have a great feeling for the atmosphere of the moment, and adapt the music to that, both in terms of repertoire and volume
