Drones: past, present and future
Drones: more and more you read about them in news reports and more and more you see beautiful drone images on TV. And many sectors are now using drones, including agriculture, inspection, security. But where did the drone actually come from? What is currently possible? Should we be concerned about our privacy and airspace safety, or is it not all that bad? What developments can we expect in the coming years?
At the moment we still think of drones of those big military planes bombing far away countries, or closer to home of those buzzing helicopters making beautiful pictures and videos from the air. But drones develop further and further and get smaller. Students of Eindhoven University of Technology are working on a flying robot butler. And there are already scientists who have developed a drone as big as a coin. They can even be equipped with miniature cameras. Such drones can be used, for example, to search for victims in a burning house, but also to spy on people. What possibilities do drones offer today, and how has the drone actually developed? How are drones currently used? What does
the advance of drones mean for our privacy? What about the regulations in the field of drones, and what developments can we expect in the coming years? In this dazzling presentation full of examples and videos, Wiebe de Jager from Dronewatch takes you through an interesting and rapidly growing field of expertise.
Wiebe de Jager (@wdejager) is founder of Dronewatch and author of the books 'Dronefotografie' and 'Dronevideo's maken'. Wiebe is a certified (RPA-L) drone pilot and has the ROC-light. Wiebe made aerial photographs for a variety of clients, including National Geographic Traveler and the NBTC.
