Ronnie Tober is a Dutch singer and entertainer who has been a beloved figure in the Dutch music scene for decades. With his warm voice, charismatic performances and extensive repertoire, Ronnie Tober has left a lasting impression and established himself as an icon of Dutch light music.
After 45 years, Ronnie Tober is a well-known and successful singer/entertainer. Three years after Ronnie's birth (21 pril 1945 in Bussum) he emigrated with his parents, two brothers and sister to America. It was here where his musical talents were discovered. He sang at family parties, accompanied by his mother on the piano. From age 8 to 14, Ronnie sang with a church choir known in Albany, New York (St. Peters Episcopal Boys
Choir) and became a solo singer there. A year after, his first single was released entitled "Who taught you how" and gave him fame in Albany and the surrounding area.
Starting in 1961, Ronnie was a regular guest on TV Shows such as "The Perry Como Show" and "The Ed Sullivan Show." Got his own local TV shows and was named "Junior Mr. America" in 1962. A tour of all the states of America was the result. Ronnie performed in the musicals "Little Mary Sunshine," "The Boyfriend" and starred in the TV movie "Route 66" with George Maharis. The highlight of his American years was a performance for Nixon.
Ronnie's participation in the Knokke Festival brought him fame in Europe. Guest appearances in t.v. shows of Caterina Valente, Nina and Frederik, big New Year's Eve shows in Germany were regular activities. Several times Ronnie was allowed to represent our country at all kinds of song festivals. Like Knokke, Athens and Sopot (Poland). In Poland he was invited many times for big TV shows.
Twice he had the opportunity to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. In 1965 he participated in the Dutch preliminaries with the song "Great", which brought him great success. And in 1968, after winning the Dutch preliminaries, he was allowed to represent the Netherlands at the Royal Albert Hall in London with the song "Morgen".
To this day he is a much sought after singer/entertainer and not only in the Netherlands. He is regularly asked to perform in Belgium, Germany, England, Tunisia, America, Hungary, South Africa, etc.
