Floating in an enormous ball gown made of umbrellas, a soprano sings famous arias by composers such as Mozart and Puccini. Gracefully guided by two elegant water attendants, the diva enchants the audience with her pure voice.
Floating in an enormous ball gown made of umbrellas, a soprano sings famous arias by composers such as Mozart and Puccini. Gracefully propelled by two elegant water attendants, the diva enchants the audience with her pure voice. As evening falls and darkness sets in, the Diva appears in an illuminated costume. Like a will-o’-the-wisp, she floats across the water, creating a magical effect.
The Floating Diva is a theatrical musical performance on the water by Victorine Pasman (concept and costume design) and is primarily performed by sopranos Frédérique Klooster and Brigitte van Hagen. The umbrella dress was developed in 2005, and the current version of the Floating Diva—in a white costume and the illuminated version—has been in existence since 2015.
The performance has been presented at numerous festivals and events worldwide, including Lowlands, Wonderfeel Festival, Oerol, Solar, Gergiev Festival, Festival Classique, Musikfestspiele Potsdam (DE), Olala Festival (AUT), the Festival of Flanders (BE), and Festival du Périgord Noir (FR), Denmark’s International Street Theater Festival (DK), Wuzhen Theater Festival (CH), Beijing International Lights Festival (CH), and others.
