The Moroccan-Dutch, international, and multigenre protest artist Abouta (stage name of Abdelhakim Boutachkourt) was born on April 10, 1985. Even in elementary school, he excelled in language and spelling, which is why he decided to start writing at that early age. Since the 2020s, he has become an indispensable part of the music industry—not only because of the tracks he’s released with pioneers of Dutch hip-hop or the attention he’s received from 101Barz, Rotjoch, and the Dutch Public Broadcasting Service have given him, but also through his collaborations with artists such as d’Tuniz, Def P, Kaascouse, Logisch, Sondy, Yasz Base, Rolly, TR33, Rainey, O-Bat, T.Y.S, Johnny Distortion, City Lights, Tone Jonez, Ivo Statinski, Jordan River Banks, Lucifer, Chiraqxel, NameOnTheBeat, and Boudewijn de Groot (who gave Abouta permission to cover his hit “Welterusten Mijnheer De President”). All of his releases are available on all streaming services, social media platforms, and online stores (some on Apple Music). Abouta also works as a songwriter and ghostwriter for other artists and clients, in addition to being the founder and owner of the AboutaProducts platform.
