This afternoon at the invitation of De Zonnebloem I drove to the Blinkert in Schoorl to attend a performance by Rene Steens and Jan van Dijk. Humor in a West Frisian way was on the program. Thoroughly enjoyed. On the way back in the car, we said to each other, how wonderful it is to be able to laugh like that. It was really great.

this evening 47 Women of Nu and 11 introduces came to Het Wapen van Landsmeer to enjoy an evening of old-fashioned laughter at the legendary timeless humor of Kees Stet. And we laughed, the jaw and laugh muscles had to work hard. René Steens and Jan Dijk of the West Frisian Collective took us back to almost forgotten times of the legendary conferencer Kees Stet, a program full of funny anecdotes and humor, interspersed with songs in which we could sing along wonderfully. And with that we mean absolutely nothing negative- on the contrary even.... Friday afternoon, May 27th, in De Doorbraak, Steens of the Westfries Collective got 'the z flat on a regular basis' with entertaining conferences and mc in his juicy West Frisian dialect. And then you notice again that West Frisian and Zaans are not so different from each other at all. The dialect from the north of North Holland was also easy to follow for us Zaankanters. A number of words and expressions, such as "te warskip goan" (go out to sleep) we know in the Zaan region as well, so the language recognition was quite large and not difficult. But it wasn't just conferences and jokes in West Frisian. Also the nice sing-alongs from the old days clearly caught the attention of the audience and were sung along at the top of their voices. In short, after two and a half years of Corona-silence (and often loneliness) it was again a wonderful afternoon 'among each other' with lots of laughter and catching up.
