Hessel Luijken makes classical appropriate for any occasion. From wedding to funeral, from garden concert to corporate dinner. His repertoire ranges from Field and Chopin to Debussy and Brahms, always tailored to the atmosphere you want to set.

No dutiful seriousness, no showcase full of unmentionable masterpieces. But craftsmanship, nuance and a keen sense of what space and audience need. From hushed background accompaniment to a concert moment that draws attention.

He started on a discarded piano and was admitted to the Royal Conservatory in The Hague three years later. As a twelve-year-old trombonist, Hessel won the Jazz Talent Award at the Breda Jazz Festival. Six years as a pianist, he won the Jan de Breet Prize, not only because of his playing. The jury also praised his presentation, his ability to tell a story with music. That is exactly what he wants: to give classical music back to everyday life.
