Amstel Choro Club brings choro: sophisticated, instrumental city music from Rio - virtuosic, subtle and rhythmically razor-sharp.
Brazilian swing with chamber musical finesse: stylish in the background, but also strong enough to really listen to.

Amstel Choro Club performs choro (pronounced "Sjoro") - the sophisticated, instrumental urban music from Rio de Janeiro in which virtuosity, subtlety and rhythmic precision come together. No folklore décor, but chamber musical finesse with Brazilian swing.

The four musicians who form the ensemble have worked with the (Royal) Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Metropole Orchestra and the Argentine National Symphony Orchestra, among others. They have also performed on leading stages, including Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw, the BIMHUIS and the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ. Montes won the Prêmio da Música Brasileira as a member of Casuarina (winner in the "Best Traditional Music Group" category).

This background translates into an ensemble that combines tight interplay, dynamic control and stylistic knowledge with a natural, warm charisma.
Line-up: mandolin, cavaquinho, 7-string guitar and percussion. An additional guest soloist from our network (additional flute, violin and more) is also a nice, recommended option.
