Porto Cabello is a string quartet consisting of violin, two guitars and double bass and plays
alternately gypsy swing and traditional gypsy music with surprising arrangements and
musical twists and turns, making them unique within the genre.
Porto Cabello's music is straightforward, honest , sentimental and touches people deep
in the heart.

Listening one imagines oneself in the jazz cellars of Paris anno 1938, and then again on a
caravan deep in the Carpathians.

Then grand and compelling, then small and fragile.
Due to their varied, strong choice of repertoire, spontaneous virtuoso solos and careful
narrative laced with snappy announcements, Porto Cabello's performances are always
captivating.

The name Porto Cabello comes from one of the later titles of the great guitarist and
composer Django Reinhardt , who brought together swing jazz and traditional gypsy music
in the 1930s and 1940s.
