I discovered early on what insecurity means. My family survived two world wars and my mother struggled with war trauma throughout her life. Fear, stress and unpredictability were normal at home but it was there that I learned how deep human resilience can be. True mental strength comes not from avoiding uncertainty but from embracing it....

In my lecture, I show how dealing with uncertainty can become a source of personal growth, agility and modern leadership. With recognizable examples, humor and practical insights, you will discover how to gain strength from change and learn to thrive in a world that never stands still.

I used to want to be a Marine: sturdy, unwavering, someone who could handle anything. Fate determined otherwise. I studied telecommunications at HTS, worked at British Telecom, learned the power of interactive media at a subsidiary of the Telegraaf, became self-employed, including all the uncertainties that come with entrepreneurship, and later found my niche in ICT secondment.

Inspired by Simon Sinek, I discovered my real strength: helping people and organizations grow, strengthening their mindset, and guiding them in change and personal development. As a coach, I see daily the effect when you do not see uncertainty as a threat, but as a starting point for personal growth and modern leadership.

In this lecture, I will take the audience through a story that begins with personal struggles and ends with timeless lessons from history. My grandfather participated in the resistance and my father grew up with hiding, persecution of Jews fear and resilience. My mother, with German parents, saw the other side. My family's wartime experiences show how deep uncertainty can cut but also how great human agility and connection are when everything is in question.

For young people, it's a disarming invitation: you don't have to be perfect. Doubt is allowed. Stress is allowed. You are not weak you are getting wiser.

For professionals and organizations, the lecture offers a fresh look at our desire for control. In a world that is changing rapidly, dealing with uncertainty is the key to innovation, collaboration and sustainable choices.
