Mister E & the Mysteries is a four-piece pop rock band that combines classic rock with contemporary pop music. The band is known for personal lyrics and a dynamic sound. In 2024 they released their second EP Shattered Romance: a multifaceted collection of songs about love, rock 'n' roll, liberation and identity, which come in even stronger live than on the record.

Mister E & the Mysteries is a four-piece band taking the Dutch stages by storm with their unique blend of contemporary pop music and classic rock. The band is led by energetic frontman Elias van Mourik (a.k.a. Mister E), who takes you into personal, recognizable stories while not shying away from raw or unexpected themes. Behind him are The Mysteries: guitarist Nino Kolen, bassist Pim Breedijk and drummer Jurrejan Straetemans. Although the three practically grew up together musically, their diverse tastes ensure a broad palette of styles and influences from which the band draws its inspiration.

The collaboration came about in late 2021, during the final lockdown of the corona pandemic. Elias - then in a relationship with Nino's roommate - was sitting on the couch with Nino watching the Top 2000, looking for a distraction from the daily grind. That shared moment made them realize that they both had a deep passion for music, and soon the idea for a new band was born - aiming to bring the best of the past to the present. As the pandemic slowly came to an end, Pim and Jurrejan also joined and Mister E & the Mysteries became a reality.

The strong chemistry between the band members soon resulted in the ambition to write their own music. After their live debut in EKKO, the band played at various venues around the country, culminating in a performance on the mainstage of AFAS Live during the Young Impact Day.

In 2023, they released their debut EP Still Burning - a versatile record with everything from power ballads and solid rock songs to danceable pop tracks. Barend van Deelen (DJ 3FM) aptly summed it up on the radio, "Mister E & the Mysteries delivers on their promise exactly - that yearning for the old, but in the present time." The song Play That Song was also selected for "Make your debut in 1 minute" and played on 3FM.

The most recent feat is the second EP Shattered Romance, recorded at Wisseloord Studios - where the echoes of greats like Mick Jagger, Aretha Franklin and Elton John still reverberate. The new EP is infused with personal stories of incarceration, liberation and same-sex rock and roll romance.

The band has extensive experience performing, where they bring the audience into their sound. They were recently named Trending Talent Top 10 at 3FM.
