Camiel Jansen, born in 1992 in The Hague, grew up in a musical family. His father is a conductor, his mother a cellist and his sister studies
flute at the conservatory. Although he initially studied classical piano, Camiel found his passion in jazz and contemporary music. He studied jazz double bass and composition at Codarts in Rotterdam, continued his education at the Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium in Copenhagen and completed his studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam in 2015
As a composer, Camiel has collaborated with various ensembles and orchestras, including Asko|Schönberg and the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. His compositions, such as "The Foundations" based on the essay collection of the same name by Ramsey Nasr, combine music with current social themes. In addition to his work as a composer, Camiel is a presenter for NPO Klassiek and teaches entrepreneurship at the Conservatory of Amsterdam
