We are Subatomic Strangers, an alternative Belgian rock band! Our influences range from Foo Fighters to Blondie and from The Cult to the Cranberries. However, we do our own thing in an 80's jacket!
Subatomic Strangers is an alternative rock band formed in the early 2020s.
At the time, Nicholas was looking for a singer/ess for his then-band "Haze of Mind" and asked Sharon if she would audition.
Sharon's deep warm voice was not immediately suited to the harder genre but Nicholas heard the potential in her voice. Sharon, in turn, was also making songs and in the process forwarded some of her projects to Nicholas. He was so surprised that he immediately decided to quit his metal band and start working with Special Satellite! Soon the first small rehearsals followed and then the band was expanded with Jonas (bass guitarist) and Arne (drummer).
The foursome was ready to hit the studio in March 2020. Their
debut record 'Special Satellite' was recorded in 1 week and ready to send out into the world. However, Corona put a stop to that and it soon became September 17, 2022 before they could present their debut record "Special Satellite" to the general public. This release show at Tranzit was a success because shortly afterwards they had their first UK tour bite with passages in Blackpool and Whitchurch, among others. The following week they opened for Bazart and Oscar and the Wolf in the Sportpaleis.
2023 followed with lots of great gigs and another tour in the UK with passages in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness and York, but 2023 was mainly marked by the recording of their second album.
Suddenly things went quiet, because after the recordings, Arne decided to quit Subatomic Strangers. Needless to say, this was a severe bummer for the band. It remained quiet for a long time until after 7 months in May 2024 they got the redeeming news that Mathijs would be joining Subatomic Strangers permanently!
From October 2024 they will start performing again, starting with a mini tour in Germany. During that tour, they will also release their first single from their second album,
The four have already proven themselves worthy of many a stage. Their catchy synth melodies, soaring guitar riffs, tight bass lines, groovy drums and sultry vocals open a gateway that will lead you to another dimension!
