Step into the world of the conductor, where leadership and communication happen without words. In this interactive and inspiring presentation, participants will discover the art of leadership in a whole new way. The presentation is along with a string ensemble.

The conductor does not communicate with words, but conveys emotions and directs his orchestra with only his baton. How does he inspire and motivate his team, both during rehearsals and on stage?

It is actually a workshop of sorts. The presentation begins with a short concert, after which Marnix explains how conducting works, and why you swing a baton. This is followed by examples, together with the ensemble, about leading, inspiring, connecting and conveying emotions. And finally, active audience participation to feel what it is like to be conducted. Also, some participants can try to conduct the orchestra themselves like a real Maestro. At least that will provide happy moments!

This presentation is given together with an ensemble of the D-Project Orchestra, and can be given in Dutch, English or Spanish.

Marnix Willem Steffen is not only a renowned conductor, but also an inspiring guest speaker. He lived abroad for 20 years, and the many performances took him to large concert halls and small churches, and from the Andes to the Amazon. The Dutch magazine "Luister" published an extensive article on his life and remarkable musical journey. In the Netherlands he most recently conducted with PHION, formerly Het Gelders Orkest.

He has spoken for Porsche, DPWorld, Yara and Internations, among others, and he holds the Leader-Coach certificate from the Institute of Neurocoaching. He stands out for his ability to present musical and cultural topics in an accessible and engaging way. And he is adept at encouraging audience interaction.
