Inspirational session on group behavior: from impeding group and team dynamics to a search "how to do it?". Science, humor and audience interaction are the ingredients of a session that sticks.
May I introduce myself, my name is Bas van Kesteren. For more than 25 years I have wondered about group behavior in organizations, but also outside in society. I bring insights from behavioral science about groups to the workplace and practice.
What drives me enormously is breaking through obstructing patterns in group dynamics. Once born out of frustration because I did not understand groups.
My expertise lies mainly in harnessing the collective intelligence of groups, such as in neighborhoods, within organizations, with employees, stakeholders and any other conceivable group.
I regularly give public lectures, guest lectures and inspiration sessions on current topics in groups. Whether it's about norms, influencing, resistance, saying "yes" and doing "no" or our end-of-the-world opinions. These are recognizable
phenomena for everyone when we are part of a group or team.
In my lectures, I show how things can be done differently. How we get help from science and how we can apply it in practice. With a touch of humor, scraping against sacred cows and pattern-breaking, I take the audience to a broader view.
November 2022 saw the release of my book entitled, "What's Really Happening Here? The book is about what you didn't already know about group behavior, but want to know. With foreword by Chantal van der Leest, Behavioral Psychologist, columnist AD and author.
