I have founded high-profile and innovative companies. My presentation on these is interactive. The audience always chooses between the success stories and the failure stories and then chooses a company name, about which I then tell and show the relevant images

I have founded several innovative and high-profile companies: the first Breakfast Service in the Netherlands, hiring butlers, climbing with magnets on my hands and feet like Spiderman and a store together with the Telegraaf opened by Mark Rutte. I am often asked as a speaker to tell "how I came up with this crazy idea". I have had to learn a lot in my entrepreneurship about patents, need creation and perseverance, among other things. As with my companies, my presentations also have a creative concept, they are interactive: the audience always chooses between the success stories and the failures, and in both cases a list of names of companies and projects appears. Then the audience calls one of them and then I click on it and the relevant images appear and I tell the story. Especially with the banana skin stories, I ask the audience if they understand the reason for failure and then an interesting discussion ensues. Such an item lasts 2-6 minutes. The learning element and being vulnerable about failure (not just success stories) always strikes a chord.
In addition, I have an academic background in marketing and communications so I can also talk about more theoretical topics such as innovation management or storytelling. I also have a visual story about non verbal communication with a quiz afterwards between two parts of the audience to check if the information has stuck.
I can also act as a moderator and wild goose in creative processes within organizations to create solutions to problems or new opportunities.
Due to busyness within my last company McNetiq, I have not gotten around to acting as a speaker as much in recent years but after recently leaving this company operationally, I now want to pick this up a bit again. I now teach part time at the University of Leiden and am considering a new business initiative.
