During the workshop, fire is colored using ethanol fuel. Different chemicals can be used to color fire, each with a different flame color. During the workshop we will color fire with chemicals including:
Copper sulfate: Produces a blue or green flame
Potassium chloride: Produces a purple flame
Strontium chloride: Produces a red flame
Calcium chloride: Produces an orange flame
Sodium chloride: Produces a yellow flame
Boric acid: Produces a green flame
These chemicals work by releasing energy in the form of light as they are heated in the flames. It is important to
note that these chemicals should only be used in small amounts and with proper safety precautions.
