Am I creating a third win? Does our business create added value for people and the environment? If not we don't start it. Nicholas takes you to the flip-flop-strewn beaches of Kenya. The artisans at Kenya's Ocean Sole upcycle these worn out flip flops into colorful works of art. A positive and accessible story about how local entrepreneurship makes the world a little more beautiful. In other words, The Art of Upcycling!
Nicholas inspires you with his 30-minute story and delivers a message that gives everyone in the room food for thought. Under the guise of 'make sustainability fun and attractive', Nicholas gives a story packed with inspiration and examples of how you too can work (more) with sustainability within your organization.
Nic&Mic stands for Nicholas and Michael Ninaber van Eijben. In 2014, Michael came in contact with the organization Ocean Sole during an internship in Kenya. Nicholas, Michael's brother and co-founder of Nic&Mic, always had a passion for social entrepreneurship. Inspired by his mission, they decided to take Ocean Sole to the next level. Through a successful crowdfunding campaign, the first steps were taken and Nic&Mic was born.
Since then, Nic&Mic has
grown into an organization with a sustainable and social mission. The successful formula with which Nic&Mic put Ocean Sole on the map in the Netherlands and abroad, Nic&Mic now applies to multiple organizations. There are beautiful collaborations with several organizations, such as Ashanti Design, ACT and Chako Zanzibar. The mission? Cleaning up trash, making something beautiful out of it and ensuring continuity of solid employment for the makers. In other words: The Art of Upcycling! In an inspiring and thought-provoking way, Nicholas provides insight on what drives him and how the projects Nic&Mic commit to must always provide "the third win.
