Arie Boomsma grew up in a ministerial family. When he was sixteen he left for the U.S. to attend high school and also to play basketball and soccer. Because of an injury, he soon returned to the Netherlands and obtained his havo diploma. After that, Arie went back to the U.S. to study psychology and communication and to play basketball again. Unfortunately, his old injury resurfaced, forcing him to quit in 1996.

While studying in America, Arie Boomsma had started acting, and once back in the Netherlands he decided to focus even more on acting. He got a role in Rolf Wouters' Toothbrush Show, appeared in commercials and played several guest roles. Later Arie Boomsma became an announcer at Yorin and then host of the program Wannahaves. In 2011 Arie wrote his debut novel "Relishow" and together with his father he additionally wrote "The Bible - What do you think?
