The dazzling musical show "A Tribute to the Soul of the 60's" takes the audience back to the United States in the tumultuous 1960's. The beautiful, funny, moving and sometimes poignant stories are the basis for a musical tour of all the landmarks of soul from that era.

To see the music from that period in context, it is interesting to know more about the artists' backgrounds and the zeitgeist in which it all took place. As an example: One is going to listen to Sittin' on the dock of the bay very differently if one knows that Otis Redding was looking for a completely different sound for this song. He had been inspired by The Beatles' album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and used these influences, against the wishes of the record company and his backing band. It became, after his death, his first No. 1 hit on the U.S. charts.
But, of course, there are many other great stories to tell. For example, the audience finds out that Led Zeppelin would probably never have become famous without Dusty Springfield. And that soul is actually an abbreviation. And that although the murder of Sam Cooke has been officially solved, there are still many riddles surrounding it.
But the most important thing is of course the wonderful music. The great stars of the period pass by. Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett and many more.
Vocalists Marjon van Iwaarden and Spencer Croes, together with the six-piece backing band, perform the beautiful ballads, the danceable, funky songs and the great soul classics.
