Junion Hanenberg founded IntelligentFood to combat (food) waste. The sustainable concept for his company brings together chain, structure and process innovation. His starting point was the question: how can I motivate food production companies to do more against food waste? Many companies simply factor the value of residual streams into their selling price. But where residual streams are already paid for, companies usually do not feel the urgency to deal with them in a different - more sustainable - way.

During his own research, he therefore quickly came to the conclusion that the amount of residual streams is so immense that it is impossible to solve this problem alone. The more parties work together, the more food can be saved. But also: the more complex the whole picture becomes. And on whom is the focus then: is it the consumer, the retailer or just the producer?

IntelligentFood develops products based on waste streams, is preferred supplier for supplying sustainable business gifts for various companies, organizes 3 times a year a hackathon for the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and two events a year together with Zadkine and Albeda college. Besides leading IntelligentFood, Junion makes time to proclaim his mission "(food) waste prevention" in an interactive lecture.
