But in reality, we constantly allow our behavior to be influenced by all kinds of irrationality. Every day, all day long. What about that? Why do we act this way? And is that a bad thing?
The interactive lecture 'Daily Irrational', based on the latest book of the same name by discoverer Michiel van Straten, shows that we often behave irrationally. Is that bad? Usually not. Many forms are not extremely unethical or harmful, usually quite innocent even. But the principles behind daily expressions of irrational behaviour can also result in damage. For yourself. For others. This can range from clumsy personal financial choices to more serious issues such as discrimination and deception, abuse even. That's why it's good to understand what phenomena are involved. Where they come from, what they look like, but especially how they hide. Because if you recognize them, you can become aware of them when they emerge. So that you then have a choice. The choice to follow your irrational behavioural impulse, or to make a well-considered different decision. Until then, you are irrational on a daily basis.

Using many concrete examples and studies, he made it concrete how (self) deception is around the corner. And he translates this to how you might encounter this in work context. Highly recommended!

For a company night we had asked Michiel to come and speak for us. He gave an interactive lecture based on his book about how the subconscious can deceive us, using interesting research. It was very successful because everyone joined in to share experiences regarding this topic. I can only recommend this lecture!
