In 1979 my childhood friend Ton Winkelman and I started the marketing and public relations consultancy Winkelman en Van Hessen B.V. For more than 30 years we have been a leading communications consultancy based in The Hague. In 2007 we were voted Europe's best employer in the communications sector, in 2011 we won the 'Golden Giraffe' and in 2015 Winkelman en Van Hessen was named 'Company of the Year'. Winkelman and Van Hessen continues to innovate and puts its money where its mouth is. I am proud to say that we are one of the market leaders in the Netherlands in the field of marketing and communications.

In 2008 I started the 'Big Improvement Day' out of the need to highlight and strengthen positive developments in the Netherlands. For ten years now, the top of the Dutch government and the business community have come together on the third Tuesday of January to give 'Holland B.V.' a boost.

To me, entrepreneurship feels like a journey of discovery and I want to share that experience. I have a passion for learning and I like to be involved in the learning process of others.
