What's that, a table magician?

A table magician (also called a close-up magician) is a magician who shows his tricks up close. (The name is a bit misleading, because a table isn't necessarily necessary for that) Chris Bordet joins your guests and the magic takes place less than a meter away; sometimes the tricks even take place in the hands of your guests. A good close-up show is an unforgettable experience for your guests, whether they are colleagues or customers.

What does it take for a table magic show?

The big advantage of a close-up performance: it doesn't really take anything at all. No sound system, no stage, no special light; not even an interruption of the event. A table magician can also work at virtually any location, indoors or outdoors.

How long does a performance take?

On average a performance for a company takes between 2.5 and 4 hours, but depending on the occasion, the number of guests and your wishes, the performance can also be shorter or longer. Would you like Chris to be present during the whole event? Do you want him to be in action between the hallways of a dinner? During a drink? When the guests come in? Would you like to book him for a part of the day at a fair? Anything's possible. (Oh, and Chris is, of course, always ready to advise you after about 750 table-top gigs.)

How's that going?

Chris will be at your location half an hour before he starts juggling. Then he simply joins your guests and hooks up with small groups at a time to give them a 'private show' of about 5 to 10 minutes. With well-known magic attributes such as playing cards and rings, but sometimes also spontaneously with the objects that happen to be present at your event location.

About magician Chris Bordet

Magician Christophe (Chris) Bordet was born in Paris. At the age of eight he was given a magic box as a gift and started to take an interest in magic. Already at the age of ten he travelled through France as a child star, as a side-act of cabaret groups and bands.

Bordet grew up near Zurich. He played theatre shows, organized a magic festival and Magic Dinners and was a regular guest in TV shows. In addition, he spent a season with a circus, worked on cruise ships and showed his skills at festivals all over Europe.

In 2011 Chris Bordet moved to Amsterdam. In the Netherlands he was a magician at De Nationale Wetenschapsquiz (VPRO) and The Social Club (BNN).

To become a magician, you don't have to do any training. In fact, there is no training to become a magician. This means that everyone in the Netherlands can, in principle, call themselves a magician. However, a good magician needs decades of practice and experience. If you are thinking about booking a table magician for your corporate event, don't just look at the price, but also check if you are dealing with a professional magician. After all, it's quite an embarrassment if you have a magician at your event who can't do anything at all. Check for example movies on Youtube or ask for advice from an experienced artist agency
