How do I send a request to an artist?

Go to the act presentation page to check whether the act is available on your event date. If so, a large blue button will appear, which you can use to activate the request form. All requests are obligation-free.

What's in the request?

The request contains information about your event, plus any questions or comments from the artist.

Can I review my request?

Of course. You can find your request under the 'My requests' tab on your personal Showbird page. After logging in, you'll see your name at the top of each page. Click on your name, open the drop-down menu and select 'My requests'. We also sent you an e-mail confirmation with a link to the specific request.

Can I withdraw my request?

Yes, you can. If you've booked a different artist for the same timeslot or if you aren't happy with your proposal, you can cancel it. Click on the button at the bottom of the page: [Withdraw proposal]. The artist will be automatically informed via e-mail.

What happens if an artist rejects my request?

If an artist isn't interested in your request, he or she can decline it. In this case, you'll receive an e-mail with the reason for the rejection. If the date is the problem, you may want to consider sending a new request with a different date.

What happens if an artist accepts my request?

If an artists is interested in performing at your event, he or she will send you an official proposal. You can then decide whether you want to book the act.

Proposal

What's in the proposal?

The proposal contains information about your request and your performance requirements (available space, rider, etc.). Any additional agreements or stipulations made by the artist will also be included here. Of course, the price for the specific performence is mentioned (incl VAT for consumers; excluding VAT for Business customers). This proposal is obligation-free.

How will I receive the proposal?

You'll receive an e-mail with a link to the proposal as soon as the artist accepts your request. You can also find the proposal under the 'My proposals' tab on your personal page.

How long is the proposal valid for?

The obligation-free proposal is valid until your event date or until the artist withdraws it. The artist is free to send proposals to other clients during this same period. A binding contract will only enter into effect when the proposal is accepted.

What happens if I reject the proposal?

If you don't agree with the contents of a proposal, you can reject it. Be sure to state your reasons for doing so, as this can help the artist with future proposals. In some cases, this may prompt the artist to send a revised proposal.

What happens if I accept the proposal?

If you're happy with the proposal, click on 'Accept' at the bottom of the proposal. You will then be redirected to the payment system. The total price incuding VAT is calculated and you can select a payment method. After the payment amount has been transferred, you will enter into a binding agreement. You and the artist will both receive a confirmation e-mail with the contract included as an attachment.

Bookings

How do I know whether a booking has been finalised?

If your payment was successful, your booking is final. You will receive an e-mail with the contract. All of the event details can be found on your 'My requests' page.

Who am I entering into a contract with?

The contract is entered into by you (the Client) and the artist (the Contractor). Showbird is not a party; we only assist with the booking process.

When will I receive the invoice?

You will receive the invoice 24 hours after the Showbird performance.

How do I contact the artist?

If you'd like to contact the artist to discuss a performance or another issue, you can find their contact details in the contract.

Can I cancel the booking?

You can, but you should try to avoid this at all costs. The 'Cancel' button can be found at the bottom of the contract (on the ticket on your personal 'My requests' page). Depending on the artist's cancellation policy, you may be reimbursed for part of the booking fee. For more information, consult Article 5.1.2 of the contract or Article 6 of the general terms and conditions for clients. The right of withdrawal for consumers (cancel an online purchase within 14 days without any given reason) is not applicable when booking an act, because the provided service (the performance) is fixed for a specific date/time combination.
