Originally it was the intention of the 7 Nijmegen musicians who form PEBB to start a New Orleans funk band. Because of the broad musical interest of the various band members, the repertoire soon blew towards various other musical styles.

The repertoire now includes pieces by the Crusaders, Grant Green, Lou Donaldson, the Rebirth Brass Band and of course the unforgettable Snoopy by the Playboys. PEBB is an indescribable combination of funk, jazz, soul and whatever else the band and the audience like

Performances of PEBB are characterized by danceable songs, few fixed appointments, so a lot of improvisations and especially a contagious playing pleasure of the band members. The fact that the band rehearses in the basement of the trumpet player's residence explains the name of the band of course: Paul Elshout's Basement Band.
