Arie van der Velden is a comedian through and through. From his own Café de Amstel in Amsterdam, he became a familiar voice on Radio 538, where he tells jokes every Wednesday morning on *De 538 Ochtendshow*. His Amsterdam accent, distinctive sense of humor, and flawless timing instantly make every performance a lively affair.

Arie has been telling jokes his whole life. As a taxi driver, in his parents’ coffee shop, and later behind the bar at his own Café de Amstel: wherever he went, he knew how to make people laugh. His national fame got a major boost thanks to folk singer Wesly Bronkhorst and Radio 538. Arie has since compiled his best jokes in the book *Vers getapt vanaf Café de Amstel* and is now performing his own theater show, *Geen Blad voor m’n Mond*, on stage.
