Looking for inspiring musical accompaniment for your event? Duo Divitia, consisting of Czech soprano Markéta Palová and pianist Amber Mertens, performs a wide selection of classical music that enriches the soul.

The origin of the name Markéta goes back to the Greek word *margarites*, which means “pearl.” The pearl is a precious natural product that forms inside shells and symbolizes purity, elegance, and timeless beauty. Throughout the centuries, the pearl has been cherished as a piece of jewelry and has often been associated with refinement and inner wealth.

Amber is a female name of Arabic origin, derived from “anbar,” which refers to ambergris (a fragrant substance) or, more commonly, to fossilized tree resin. This beautiful gemstone is known for its warm golden-yellow to reddish-orange hues and has been prized since ancient times.

Both pearls and amber are precious. So too is Divitia, which in Latin means “wealth,” “prosperity,” or “abundance.” The name of our duo was created by combining our own names with this meaningful Latin term, as a symbol of the musical richness we wish to share together.

Duo Divitia presents a mix of French, German, English, and Czech musical gems that will delight the ear and enrich the soul. Pieces by composers such as Satie, Schumann, and Dvořák have been carefully selected to recharge and inspire the weary spirit.
