An ode to Mokum: the city of canals, alleyways, cafés, love, loss, and great stories.
Born and raised in Amsterdam, Hans presents a warm and atmospheric solo performance featuring guitar and vocals. His program showcases Amsterdam’s “levenslied” (songs of life) and the Dutch-language repertoire just as they were meant to be heard: honest, relatable, and infused with a sense of humor and tragedy.
The program features timeless classics by artists such as Willy Alberti and Johnny Jordaan, complemented by the theatrical and refined works of Wim Sonneveld and Frans Halsema. Songs about the city, its people, love, and life—straight from the heart of Mokum.
Hans performs the songs with respect for the originals, yet always with his own intimate touch. In this way, old Amsterdam comes back to life, as if somewhere on a street corner a jukebox were starting to play again and the melodies were naturally floating through the air.
A musical journey through Mokum, full of atmosphere, nostalgia, and timeless songs that linger in your memory for a long time.

Who is Hans?
I’m a singer-guitarist and entertainer.
Every chanson, every song, every tune is a story in itself.
In fact, I’m a musical storyteller!

I have over 40 years of experience with various genres of music, including jazz, Dixieland, and dinner music, as well as party music at large weddings and celebrations.

From a very young age, I’ve also been involved in romantic ballads, close harmony, cabaret, and theater.
And singing… I’ve been doing that my whole life!
I’m a true nostalgic troubadour!

You could safely say that performing and entertaining are in my blood, and I still do it with great passion and joy!
