Omi Chris takes the elderly back in time by singing - with a warm voice - beautiful Dutch songs for them. What makes this act unique is the way she talks the songs together and evokes memories in the elderly. There is much viewing and listening pleasure and a good variety of cheerful and more serious songs.
After 20 years of singing at weddings and parties with the duo Daisy Belle (Dance Classics), my singing heart now goes out to seniors in nursing homes and institutions. It is wonderful to see people enjoying themselves while quietly listening to well-known Dutch songs that evoke all kinds of emotions in them. And there is room for that as well. With my experience in education, I hear and see what happens in a group and what people need. I do that with a happy note and with some lightheartedness, so it doesn't get too heavy.
A one-hour performance is fine for older people. Halfway through there can be a break for a drink if necessary.

How lucky we were to have Chris' tryout at our nursing home. The residents enjoyed all the songs and stories from "back then." Chris' enthusiasm is contagious and soon everyone was singing along inside Villa Marijke Elisabeth. The reading half hour with Omi Chris is truly a party! Besides reading aloud, she also takes the children through the rhyming process, singing with them and teaching them a recitation verse, making it an interactive activity that children enjoy participating in.

We had a visit from a real writer in the classroom. She came with her elephant the Brillofant, because she had written a book about it. She read aloud, made rhymes with the children and played games. The children were enthusiastic and curious and fascinated the whole time.

Chris Backus read from her book The Brillophant and what a treat it was! We had two sessions scheduled and both were packed. This wonderful book, intended for children ages 3 to 7, contains no fewer than 42 delightful verses. Both dads and moms sat spellbound listening to the lively stories Chris told with such enthusiasm. It was great to see the store come to life! We are already busy preparing for another session after the summer vacations. Don't miss it, as it promises to be another great experience! On Saturday, May 25, we will be visited by Chris, who will come to read the story of the Brillofant. An elephant who wears glasses, how awesome that this can take place in our store. Many children are listening very attentively and there is also a lot of interaction with the children, which is a perfect combo. We look back on a super fun read-aloud moment.
