If you want to introduce children to rhyme and poetry in a playful way, you've come to the right place with Chris Backus. Chris is energetic and knows how to captivate children with her enthusiasm. Reciting a verse together, singing, finding rhyming words, making a coloring page; thanks to her many years of experience in education, Chris has a good sense of what a particular group needs. She also came to bookstore Jacques Baas to talk about the Brillofant.

The reading half hour with Omi Chris is truly a party! Besides reading aloud, she also takes the children through the rhyming process, singing with them and teaching them a recitation verse, making it an interactive activity that children enjoy participating in.

We had a visit from a real writer in the classroom. She came with her elephant the Brillofant, because she had written a book about it. She read aloud, made rhymes with the children and played games. The children were enthusiastic and curious and fascinated the whole time.

Chris Backus read from her book The Brillophant and what a treat it was! We had two sessions scheduled and both were packed. This wonderful book, intended for children ages 3 to 7, contains no fewer than 42 delightful verses. Both dads and moms sat spellbound listening to the lively stories Chris told with such enthusiasm. It was great to see the store come to life! We are already busy preparing for another session after the summer vacations. Don't miss it, as it promises to be another great experience! On Saturday, May 25, we will be visited by Chris, who will come to read the story of the Brillofant. An elephant who wears glasses, how awesome that this can take place in our store. Many children are listening very attentively and there is also a lot of interaction with the children, which is a perfect combo. We look back on a super fun read-aloud moment.
