DJ Jurgen grew up in Delft, where his passion for music began. He took his first steps into the
music world as a radio DJ at Radio City The Hague. In 1985, he gained national recognition as a regular
DJ at a public radio station, which earned him a solid reputation in the radio world.

In the late 1980s, Jurgen became involved in the emerging Amsterdam
dance scene. He soon began spinning at various clubs and became a resident DJ at venues including the
legendary Hour Power at Escape (Rembrandtplein) and ASTA in The Hague. At ASTA,
he launched his own club concept, ID, through which he provided a platform for new and emerging DJ talent.

Around 1994–1995, DJ Jurgen began producing music in his own studio. His first release, Shakra’s
“Feelings,” found its way onto various compilation CDs and became an underground hit. In 1998, he
broke through internationally with the global hit “Better Off Alone,” a No. 1 hit that propelled him onto the
world stage.

He toured Japan, Hawaii, Dubai, South Africa, and the United
States, among other places, and became the first Dutch DJ/producer to be nominated for an IDMA Award in Miami.
His follow-up track, “Higher & Higher,” solidified his reputation in the international dance scene.

In the years that followed, he released tracks such as “Wicked Waves” (2005, Yakuza Label), “Boyzz” (2007, Spinnin’
Records), “Higher Love” (2008), and “Crazy Sexy Cool” (2009). At the same time, DJ Jurgen returned to
his radio roots. Starting in 2005, he hosted a daily morning show on Radio Fresh FM and his
popular Saturday night program “ID,” which was streamed worldwide via Wild FM.

Today, DJ Jurgen is still active in the studio and behind the turntables. With new
releases on the way and remixes of tracks like “Higher & Higher,” he continues to share his energetic tech house–inspired sound with dance floors around the world.
