Garden State plays the honest, explosive music of Southside Johnny, Bruce Springsteen and Little Steven, the godfathers of the Jersey Shore Sound. No imitations, just two hours of rock, soul and rhythm & blues in an unadulterated wall of sound without fuss.The 12-piece band with its swinging horn section makes the evening a true celebration.

Horn bands are dead," the A&R manager told Southside Johnny and Steven Van Zandt, explaining why the label would not promote their album. Of course, and fortunately, the men just kept going. Along with Bruce Springsteen, Southside and Miami Steve produced a host of classic songs.

Mostly played live in the style that would come to be called Jersey Shore Sound: no dance moves, no difficult light show, no video projections, but two hours of a mix of soul, rock, blues in a wall of sound.

Garden State plays songs by Springsteen and Van Zandt in a tribute to Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. Of course in full line-up with a fat rhythm section, five-man/woman horn section, polyphonic driven vocals and virtuoso guitar and keyboard work. Rock 'n' roll, unadulterated, blue collar, straight from New Jersey, the attitude capitol of the world.
